Garden Ho Ho Hoses

Built from free materials, erected without digging, and not bad for a days’ work, this thirty-two foot fence will fill a gap between trees and provide more privacy. If it also cuts down on road noise, that will also be a welcome benefit.

The upright poles are from a dumpstered military mess hall and the boards are from Laura. Now I need many yards of … what … to weave in and out between the poles? It should be a material which might otherwise go to a landfill. Currently, I am thinking … garden hoses, collected via Craigslist or Freecycle.

What do you think?

What about weaving smaller branches, like a basket?

I wanted to use ferns but they are not long enough.

Alas, an update: I neglected to brace the structure and the wind blew it down. I may just wait until the growing season is over and move some (small) trees to form a row.
